  • Condition: Condition, excellent mechanically in every regard. Noticeable cosmetic issues mainly as scuffs on both knuckles and a bit of lost finish. Derailleur is newly cleaned and polished and has very snug linkage and strong spring actions. Looks aside, it is about as good as new. Please see main text for more info.

    Description

    Here's a very good condition example of Shimano's much-loved Deore XT long-cage rear derailleur for mountain bike or touring applications.
    Has a scattering of some obvious cosmetic issues (study gallery) but the bad news stops there.
    This is the 8-speed SIS M739 iteration: it is as sound and snug in its linkage and spring power as when new and is newly refurbished.
    REFURBISHED?
    Yes: meaning a thorough cleaning, inspection and polishing to guarantee full functionality and the best possible appearance. All limit screws, and the adjuster barrel, certified smoothly operable.
    Work included complete overhaul of pulley wheels which feature a ceramic bearing upper, rubber seals for both and stainless steel side plates which were individually polished. Wheels themselves are in excellent shape with little or no wear.

    One of Shimano's best from the 8-speed era: with some superficial eyesores but a definite heart of gold.
